Earl L. Cromer
On Friday, November 19,2021, Earl Lewis Cromer, age 74, of Robinson Township, passed
peacefully. Beloved husband of Marilyn "Rusty" Cromer for fifty-one years, Earl's greatest joy
was his family and friends. He was the loving father of Matthew (Leah) Cromer, Michael (Susan)
McDonald, Patrick (Janette) McDonald, Catherine (Brian) Cianciola and the late Maureen (Gregory) Furr. He took
immeasurable pride and joy in the lives of his ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Earl's greatest joy lay in the circle of his beloved family and friends. He treasured spending
time on vacations with his wife and best friend, Jim Arvanitas which included fishing, traveling,
and quarrying their own rock specimens. An integral part of a home open to friends, family, and
those in need. Earl was always a part of the discussions and solutions found around the family
table.
A graduate of Robert Morris, he was a proud investigative paralegal of Egler, Garrett, and
Egler for thirteen years before continuing his work at Tucker Arensberg for three years. Earl and
Rusty have owned Merlyn Kennels in Robinson Township for fifty-three years. He was a crucial
part of the business, as well as the showing of Collies and Shetland Sheepdogs over the years.
Earl was a man of extraordinary and sometimes hidden talents. He was a passionate
member of South Park Playhouse and its productions, while also being an antique enthusiast. He
dearly loved to find pieces he could refurbish and make beautiful with his signature creativity and
eye for a diamond in the rough. Earl loved to laugh and joke and was a strong presence in any
room. He also was well known for his sweet tooth and a hard worker's love of coffee. His staunch
loyalty, kindness, and huge heart will be immeasurably missed and forever treasured.
