Niepp Jr.
Frederick "Pete"Anton

Peacefully, with his loving wife by his side, on Tuesday, January 28, 2025, Frederick A. "Pete" Niepp Jr., age 98, of Crafton passed away.  Beloved husband for 52 years of Sherry Best Niepp. He was the son of the late Lena and Fred Niepp, father of the late Leslie Niepp (Tim Hunt) and Diana Niepp. Brother of the late Ruth Hardy (Bob) and the late Patricia Caughey (Clem). Brother-in-law of Deborah Clark (Tom), Craig Best (Sue) and step-brother-in-law of Pam Haywood (Lee). Also several nieces and nephews. Pete attended Crafton High School, served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, attended Bethany College and earned a BS degree from Pitt. Pete was a brilliant "Neon Man" (1952 - 2020). Known throughout Pittsburgh for his beer, department store, restaurant, shoppes, home and event neon designs, notably the Heinz sign at the History Center. He owned the Neon Manufacturing Co. and the Neonwerks.  He was "a man for all seasons" loved by all who crossed his path.  Pete was witty, charming, smart, kind, creative, artistic, industrious and honest. He was an avid downhill and water skier, amateur pilot owning a WWII plane, hunter, foreign and domestic traveler and was a champion hydroplane and Jaguar racer (1950's and '60's).  Pete's family is most grateful for his recent care at the Remington of McCandless, Bridges Hospice and especially for his special friend, Susan Dettlinger,  his "sandbox buddy" the late David Latshaw and his furry pal Teddy Bear. Services will be private with inurnment in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, with military honors, at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to the Hershberger-Stover Inc.
