On Thursday, April 22, 2021, John A., age 73, of Baden. Husband of the late Karen Wolfe Gallagher and beloved father of John D. (Rebecca) Gallagher and step-father of Melissa Wolfe. Loving grandfather of Garrett and Liliana Gallagher and Lucas Matesic and Layla Doran. Step-son of Louise Gallagher; brother of Jeff (Jodi) Gallagher and step-brother of Ruth Ellen Roney and Sue (Jeff) Ware. Also numerous nieces and nephews. Friends received at the Hershberger-Stover Inc. Funeral Home, 170 Noble Avenue, Crafton, on Tuesday 2-4 and 6-8 pm where funeral service will be Wednesday at 11:45am. Interment, with Marine honors, will be in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. John was a 1966 graduate of Washington High School and then served his country as a Sgt. in the Marine Corps from 1966 to 1969, serving in Vietnam and being awarded the Purple Heart. He was a great mentor to various youth as a coach of Midget League Football and Basketball, Little League Baseball, Minor League Baseball and as an umpire of softball and baseball games. He was a former Cub Master of Cub Pack 364 and Assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 66. He was a Greentree Volunteer Firefighter from 2002 until 2012 and was a Life Member of Washington County Marine Corps League 1138 as well as a Life Member of The Military of the Purple Heart and the VFW. He was also a member of American Legion Post 175 Washington, PA. John enjoyed wood working, working with stained glass, fishing, hunting, model railroading, and working in the garden and flower beds. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his four grandchildren which brought everyone a great deal of joy. If desired, memorials may be made to ALS Assn.
