On Wednesday, August 14, 2024, John M., age 95, of Kennedy Twp. Beloved husband for 55 years of the late Joan E. Gehr; loving father of Ronald (Kim) and Edwin (Linda) Gehr; dear grandfather of Andy (Cynthia) and Rachel Gehr and proud great-grandfather of Grace and Olivia Gehr. Brother of the late William (late Claudia) Gehr. John graduated from South Hills High School in 1947 and served in the U.S. Army as a physical therapy technician in various Army hospitals.  He then attended Slippery Rock University and graduated in 1956.  His first teaching job was as a geography teacher in Ingram Junior High where he became principal and later served as principal of Williams Junior High, both of which were in the Montour School District.  John then became Assistant Superintendent of the Montour School District, a position he held for twenty years until his retirement in 1991.  John was a longtime faithful member of the Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church where he served in multiple offices and on numerous committees. He was also an avid golfer. Friends received at the Hershberger-Stover Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 170 Noble Ave., Crafton on Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p. m. Funeral service in Ken Mawr United Presbyterian Church, 1760 Pine Hollow Rd., Kennedy Twp, McKees Rocks, PA 15136 on Saturday at 10 AM. Everyone please meet at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ken Mawr U. P. Church.
