Podobnik (Van Woert), Joy M. 

Joy was born in Chicago in 1926, the only child of William and Adele Van Woert. On May 15, 2023, while surrounded by her family, Joy went to be with the Lord. Beloved wife of Robert Podobnik for 63 years. Loving mother of Katherine (Donald) Thomas and Jacqueline (Nicholas) Hryadil; dear grandmother of David Hryadil and Allison (John) Smith. Joy graduated from Mt. Lebanon High Schooolol and attended Miami University in Ohio for a short time. She graduated from Duffs Business School where she majored in accounting. Joy worked during her life for various businesses in accounting positions. Joy lived in North Fayette Township and enjoyed traveling and camping on family vacations. She was a girl scout troop leader, served as president of the local women's club and was active in her church where she lead bible studies, adult education and directed plays with great cast participation. Joy enjoyed playing games, making crafts, painting and cross stitch. She was an avid reader and volunteered at the West Allegheny Library where she taught an adult to read and write thru the literacy program. Joy also volunteered at Ohio Valley Hospital. As her grandchildren grew she enjoyed their activities just as she did her daughter's, especially watching their ball games. Per Joy's request, services and interment were private. Arrangements entrusted to the Hershberger-Stover Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services,170 Noble Ave., Crafton.
