Mildred E. “Mid”
At home on Friday, August 23, 2024, Mildred “Mid,” age 83 of Pittsburgh. Recently preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, William “Bill.” Devoted mother of Connie (Tim) Deichler, Brenda (late Gail) Withers, Amy (Laurie) Strefling of Pittsburgh, and William “Bill” (Andrea) of Wilmington, Ohio. Proud grandmother to Bridgette (Donald) Wolbert, late Joshua Deichler, Kyle (Tyne) Davis, Chad Davis, Davis Strefling; and loving Gigi to Rucker and Garrett Wolbert, and Kam and Elle Davis. Sister of William “Bill” (Doris Jean) Ramsden and Roy “Ed” Ramsden. Preceded in death by parents, Jack Ramsden and Nora “Tillie” Mumau; brothers Jack and Karl Ramsden; and grandson, Joshua Deichler. Mid was born on May 11, 1941 in Black Lick, Pennsylvania and grew up in Blairsville, where she met Bill Davis, her high school sweetheart. They married on February 27, 1960 before moving to Johnstown, PA for Bill to work for Allegheny (now American) Airlines. Mid gave birth to their three daughters before she and Bill moved to Pittsburgh in 1968. In 1969, they completed their family by welcoming a son into the world. Mid worked as a part-time lunch lady and a special education aide at Westwood School and, once her children were no longer school-aged, she found a career at PNC Bank as a bank teller until her retirement. Mid was an active member of Crafton Presbyterian Church, organizing church activities and serving as a Ruling Elder. She found great joy in planning for C.A.M.P., a monthly social program for seniors in the community. Mid enjoyed gardening, jigsaw puzzles, a good Hallmark movie, arranging flowers, bird watching, crafts, loving on her grand-four-legged grandchildren, listening to Isaiah on the piano, watching the Pirates, and spending time with her family. With her strong-willed spirit and generous heart, she was a gift to all who knew and loved her; she will be missed. Friends received at the Hershberger-Stover Inc. Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 170 Noble Avenue, Crafton, on Wednesday 4 - 7 PM only. Funeral Service in the Crafton United Presbyterian Church, 80 Bradford Ave,, Crafton (Pittsburgh., PA 15205) on Thursday at 11:00 AM.
